I reside in self proposed exile deep in a rock on the Blasket Islands. I spend half my time avoiding day trippers who come across on the ferry and the other half looking for food. Life has been boring here since the ferries stopped faction fighting and suddenly I became reliant on news from further away than my tiny collection of rocks. I decided I needed something new in my life. I began to crave more information. I sent a 4rth cousin of mine, who does tours of the island to bring me back a lap top so I could begin writing my memoirs of the long life I have lived here exiled on a tourist attraction, that was once my peoples home. He brought me back an apple g4 and what do you know it had an airport built into it!

And then IT appeared!!!

What was IT? One bar of connection at the bottom of the triangle in the right hand corner. IT shows up when the wind is blowing North West off shore from Dunquin! You see they have the old wireless broadband in the Heritage centre there and by the grace of God it has given me this opportunity to ditch the ideas of my memoirs and begin this journey here online.

Its the distance from the shore that always appealed to me. Watching the coastline from the distance. I have been here so long I now call it the mainland. But we know it is just an island. Its all about perspective and thats the perpective I want to share.

The Mainland might even be a better name for this blog as that is what it is going to be about, as I don't get RTE or the Irish Independent. Though I do make my cousin bring me old Sunday Independents because I need to look at the lovely woman the mainland has to offer when I am feeling lonely. Even the cold atlantic winds do not blow away my basic human nature to look at the over made up woman of Irish Society.

My mission is to give my version of the news that my cousin brings across to me on the ferry. It should be quite frequent as the summer brings him over often. My little version of events from a distance. God Willing the wind will be in my favour as I have a new deity to worship i.e. my little Bar at the top right hand corner.

And all the while I will sit on my damp, mossy couch eating seaweed for survival (and not because I am trendy,) praying to my old Deity and distant relation up in heaven my great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great Aunt Peg.

Welcome

Slan
